Philips XL Air Fryer Review

First of all, the unit comes with a 60-minute timer that goes off automatically. This way, you don’t have to constantly monitor your food whilst cooking. When it comes to air frying food, you typically don’t need more than 15 to 30 minutes. In other words, this air fryer can pretty much accommodate a vast array of food with cooking times that extend up to an hour.

The rapid air technology is one of the things that sets this unit apart from the others. With this technology, you can fry, grill as well as roast different kinds of food efficiently and manage the smell to a very minimal level. This feature will do wonders when you have other people in your house and you don’t want to bother them with the noise or smell of a grill or deep fryer.

So much has been said concerning the starfish design at the bottom of the fryer, but what are the advantages? The main upside is that in combination with the rapid air technology, the starfish design moves air around the whole unit evenly to ensure an even cook.

The fryer is quite big and heavy at a weight of 15.4 lbs. and a capacity of 2.65 lbs. it will occupy a lot of space on your kitchen table but it is very suitable if you are cooking for up to 4 people. This might not be the best option for a single person cooking for one but it is excellent for a couple. We’ve also come across various reports that this unit smokes if you use it without proper cleaning.

With the digital interface, you can set the temperature up to 390 °F. In fact, this is high enough to air fry any kind of food. But you can also have configurations as well as settings saved for certain food like french fries that you find yourself frequently cooking. The unit is easy to clean as most of its parts are detachable and easily washable. You will only find an issue when cleaning the basket as sometimes as food gets stuck between the grates.

If you are comfortable with the size of this unit, the Philips XL is highly recommended. It is relatively pricey but it promises to deliver a lot of value. You also get a free app and a recipe book with over 150 recipes with which you can experiment. Additional accessories such as a grill pan as well as a double layer rack can also be purchased if you opt for them. What’s more, this unit has also been endorsed by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
