You’ve taken advantage of At Least We Fried’s Top Ten Best Air Fryers guide to select the perfect unit. You’ve even cooked and devoured air-fried chicken nuggets or fries. Now that the festivities are over, however, you may be asking “how do I clean my air fryer?” At Least We Fried is here to help! A clean, properly cared for air fryer will last longer and keep you from getting sick. These appliances are an investment, so it’s best to take care of them.

Steps for Cleaning

  • Always unplug your air fryer before cleaning. Water and electricity don’t mix.
  • If you are cleaning after use, let the air fryer cool all the way to room temperature.
  • Wipe down the exterior with a warm, wet cloth.
  • Immerse the basket and any waterproof parts in warm, soapy water.
  • Scrub stuck-on debris away with a sponge or brush.
  • Allow your air fryer to dry completely before storing it.

Sometimes the basket of your air fryer will have hard to remove, stuck-on food debris. Don’t get rough with your appliance; these baskets are carefully designed and damaging them with abrasive items may affect your ability to cook food going forward. Your best bet is to soak the parts in soapy water until the food debris removes easily. You won’t regret gently cleaning the interior parts of your air fryer.

Storing and Maintaining Your Air Fryer

Properly storing your air fryer is as important as properly cleaning it. We recommend:

  • Never leaving your air fryer plugged in
  • Store the air fryer on its side
  • Keep all cords inside the unit or in an attached storage compartment, if possible.
